Tentative Master Schedule Generation - Batch - Purpose
MS170E
The Tentative Master Schedule Generation - Batch program (MS170E) allows you to generate a tentative master schedule for each period for each master scheduled part updating the schedule on the Tentative Master Schedule file (MS160M).
You can enter the requests to the system through the Tentative Master Schedule Generation Request program (MS320E), which generates the Tentative Master Schedule Generation Request file (MS320AP). This transaction file drives the execution of the Tentative Master Schedule Generation program (MS170E).
Each request record on the Request file (MS320AP) contains the following generation parameters:
A. The period for which the tentative master schedule quantity will be calculated, determined by the Requested Date (start date) and Horizon Date (end date).
B. The part or group of parts for which the tentative master schedule generation will be performed. Valid options are:
1 - A specific part number
2 - All parts assigned to a particular planner
3 - All master scheduled parts in the Part Master file (DE100M)
C. The Planning Period Option, which can be either:
1 - Weekly
2 - Monthly
3 - By Planning Periods, as defined by the user on the Planning Period Definition file (MS025M)
D. Whether or not the Tentative Master Schedule report (MS170A) will be printed. This report shows the generated tentative master schedule for each part in the requested period along with useful key data used in the calculations.
The program will process each transaction in the Tentative Master Schedule Generation Request file (MS320AP) in sequence. A workfile (MS170AP) is used to build a tentative schedule. After all calculations have been performed, the Tentative Master Schedule file (MS160M) is updated for the parts and periods specified in the request.
The new tentative master schedule quantities will be based on the projected demand and availability information in the system at the time of execution.
