Master Schedule Available to Promise

Master Schedule Available to Promise provides the planner with a time-phased, bucketed summary of the requirements and orders that make up the Master Schedule.  If a part is potency controlled, the beginning balances are calculated in potent units.

Three totals are shown on the report.  The Projected Available is the inventory expected to be available at the end of the period.  Available to Promise is the inventory that can be promised to a customer, on the basis that this will be available if everything has been promised in previous periods.  This is calculated by determining the difference between scheduled production and scheduled demand in the present period.  Cumulative Available to Promise includes the previous available to promise, on the basis that this will be available if not promised in the previous periods.

The consumption code is also printed on the report.  This code will cause the MS and RP planning programs to "net" or "consume" against the forecast either only certain types of demand or all types of demand for the part.

This report can be used to promise ship dates for new customer orders, based on the available to promise calculation.  It may also be used to detect any problems in the master schedule.
