Matrix Header Maintenance - Purpose
EC120E
The Matrix Header Maintenance program (EC120E) handles the addition, changing, deactivation, reactivation, and version activation of matrices. It is accessed from three different menu options, each one specifying a different database type (distribution, pricing, or manufacturing). The maintenance of the matrix detail is handled by the Expert Configurator Matrix Detail Maintenance program (EC130E).
A matrix is identified by matrix number, part number (which may also be a group, subgroup, or *ALL), and database type. Many matrices can share the same name, but each matrix must have a unique combination of the three variables. However, if matrices share the same name, they have different priorities depending on the part number. Specific part matrices have top priority, followed by subgroup, group, and *ALL. This means that if a rule refers to a matrix and two matrices exists with that name, it will use a specific part matrix over a *ALL matrix, or use a subgroup matrix over a group matrix, etc., assuming version numbers correspond and the part is in the group or subgroup.
