Daily Procedures

 

 

This section provides information about the processes that must be performed every day for MAC-PAC.  The typical flow is shown in Figure 7.  The detailed procedures for performing each of these steps are provided in this section. 

Here is an example schedule for performing these events.

 

5:00 p.m.

1.

Issue a break message to all MAC-PAC users that they have 5 minutes to log out of the system.

5:05 p.m.

2.

Cancel all asynchronous monitors.  Cancel the JIT Async Monitor with the JIT Night Cancel option to assure all transactions are processed before the monitor is canceled.

 

3.

Bring down all MAC-PAC users who are logged into the system.

5:15 p.m.

4.

Check for failed online transactions.  Resolve any problems before proceeding (for example, a terminal loses power in the middle of a transaction).

 

5.

Back up master files.

 

6.

Change journal receiver.

 

7.

Display journal attributes.

 

8.

Delete old receiver.

 

9.

Start off-line processing.

 

 

a.  Submit batch jobs (manufacturing/distribution)

 

 

b.  Release batch jobs (financials)

 

10.

Check for failed off-line transactions.  Resolve any problems before proceeding.

 

11.

Print out results of submitted jobs.

 

12.

Start asynchronous monitors.
