Bar Coding
The MAC-PAC Shop Floor Control and Inventory Control modules provide facilities for producing bar coded documentation. In addition, bar coded data can be input to any MAC-PAC online conversation.
Reading bar code symbols is a fast, accurate means of capturing data. It has a proven reliability and can be used in almost any environment. Data capture is not affected by magnetic or electrical noise, and bar codes have a high tolerance to oil, grease, dirt, and other foreign materials. No physical contact is required to capture data with laser readers.
There are many different bar codes available. Code 39 has been chosen for the MAC-PAC system because of its applicability to the manufacturing environment (for example, its alphanumeric character set). Other codes can be used with minor adjustments.
