Master Schedule Available to Promise Inquiry - Purpose
MS830E
The Master Schedule Available to Promise Inquiry program (MS830E) provides a planner with a phased summary of supply and demand information for a part. The program consists of a select screen and an inquiry screen. The user may select a part number, horizon date, and a planning period option on the select screen. The data displayed shows whether the current schedule meets demand and whether inventory will be available to promise goods. The demand detail screen shows a breakdown of the demand figure. The projected demand and the consumable demand are compared, the greater being the net demand. Total demand is determined by adding in unplanned customer orders, unconsumable demand, and EDI demand.
Three totals are shown on the screen. The Projected Available is the inventory expected to be available at the end of the period. Available to Promise is the inventory that can be promised to a customer on the basis that this will be available if everything has been promised in previous periods. This is calculated by determining the difference between scheduled production and scheduled demand in the present period. Cumulative Available to Promise includes all the previous available to promise on the basis that this will be available if not promised in the previous periods.
This program is also called from the Sales Order Maintenance program (OP100E) to calculate the promised ship date. When called from OP100E, the program retrieves the order quantity from the fast path data structure, determines the next day when that quantity will be available to promise, and passes the corresponding date back to OP100E for display as the default promised ship date for a line.
