Batch Part Master Maintenance - Purpose
DE110E
The Batch Part Master Maintenance program (DE110E) adds, changes, deletes, and reactivates records on the Part Master file (DE100M). All transactions are processed in batch. User-defined information may also be added to user-defined fields. A valid transaction is posted to the Part Master file, and an audit trail record and transaction register records are written. Transactions with errors are written to the transaction register. Accompanying error messages are output to the Design Engineering Error file.
Special attention must be given to the program that is used to enter data into the Part Master Transaction files (DE100AP1-DE100AP3, DE100AP5-DE100AP9). Most fields on these input files are alphanumerically arranged, but several are packed. Some of these contain data that are moved into numeric fields on the Part Master file. If the data entry program did not validate that these fields are right-justified, the Batch Part Master Maintenance program will abort due to an attempt to place non-numeric data in a numeric field.
