Year-End Journal Entry Processing - Purpose
GL290P
The Year-End Journal Entry Processing program (GL290P) creates the Year-End Journal Entry report (GL290A). The program is called by the Year-End Journal Entry Report Request program (GL290E) which passes the requested company/location, process type (list or final), posted year, and the report date for the Year-End Journal Entry report. A list report can be run multiple times during a year; however, a final report may only be run once per year.
When called, the program uses the parameters to process the records in the Financial Account/Center Summary Master Query file (GLFILEQ4). The report shows what the closing entries of the General Ledger profit/loss and the closing and opening entries of the General Ledger balance sheet accounts would look like if they were generated. The Year-End Journal Entry Processing program creates a fictitious transaction that is used to zero the report balance. The transaction is generated only on the report, it is not generated in any of the transaction files.
