Check Number Writing - Purpose
AP290E1
The Check Number Writing program (AP290E1) converts the numeric amount to its alphabetic counterparts, formatting the text for final printing on a check. For example, this program would take a passed numeric amount of $12.32 and pass out "Twelve Dollars and Thirty-Two Cents". The reason for formatting the amount in words rather than just printing it on the checks in numeric form is to provide an additional control against fraud. Words are more difficult to change than numbers, increasing the integrity of the check amount.
This program is called from the Payment Forms Creation/Print Set program (AP290E).
