Shipping Proposal Generation - Purpose
Shipping Proposal Generation - Purpose
GA230E
The Shipping Proposal Generation program (GA230E) generates the shipping proposals which must be prepared on the day following the daily batch process. The pickers specify the quantities by item to be shipped, taking into account the offset and backlog releases as well as the rounding rules defined on the corresponding endorsement.
All confirmed offset releases (nature 1) are considered, planned releases (natures 2-4) are only considered if the associated endorsement contains the appropriate authorization (field 'Ship/Planned Schedule' is set to 'Y'). An offset release, if considered in a shipping proposal, and the corresponding delivery request header (GA210M1) are blocked by setting their statuses to 'B'. If it is a planned release, and no authorization is granted in the endorsement to consider this release in a proposal, the release is closed (status 'C').
For applying the packaging rounding rules, authorization must also be granted on the endorsement (field 'Deliv Round Rules'). Quantities to be shipped as proposed by the system are then rounded up to the next higher packaging unit (i.e., half packaging units are not shipped). In all cases, the quantity of an item to be shipped is a whole multiple of its ordering unit.
All offset or backlog releases that have the following data in common will be grouped on the same shipping proposal and their quantities added up. The criteria are:
· shipping company/warehouse (Blanket Order Master GA120M1)
· blanket order number (Blanket Order Master GA120M1)
· delivery point (Item/Delivery Point Master GA120M2)
· consolidation point (Endorsement Master GA120M3)
· ship-via (Endorsement Master GA120M3)
· preparation date (Backlog Releases GA220AP, Offset Releases GA200M)
· shipping date (Backlog Releases GA220AP, Offset Releases GA200M)
· delivery date (Backlog Releases GA220AP, Offset Releases GA200M)
· ship reason (Backlog Releases GA220AP, Offset Releases GA200M)
Note: Shipping proposals are not generated for Customer KANBAN endorsements.
The following endorsements define the data associated with a shipping proposal:
· The endorsement associated with each offset release should be used for the releases that have a preparation date which has been reached.
· For new (backlog) releases (on GA220AP) representing a backorder, two endorsements may apply:
a. An offset release exists and its preparation date corresponds with the date of the backlog release. The advance/backorder for the backlog release is then added to the offset release and the endorsement used is the offset release endorsement.
b. None of the offset releases has a preparation date corresponding with the one associated with the backlog release. The endorsement used is the one valid at the backlog release's shipping date.
To automate inventory lot maintenance, GA230E also reserves lots and generates labels for the lots in inventory. SYNCHRO labels are automatically generated referencing the lots available in inventory by location. The lots are also sorted by FIFO date in agreement with the item quantity to be shipped. A lot or part of a lot referenced on a label for a shipping proposal is considered "reserved." The system will not allocate it to another shipping proposal until the original shipping proposal has been locked (by GA220E during daily batch) after the shipping date has passed.
