Matrix Inquiry - Purpose
EC820E
The Matrix Inquiry program (EC820E) handles the inquiry of matrix header and detail information defined in the Matrix Header file (EC120M1) and the Matrix Detail file (EC120M2). It is accessed from three different menu options, each one specifying a different database type (distribution, pricing, or manufacturing). Many versions of data can be displayed for each matrix, but only one can be displayed at a time.
Matrices can have up to five keys. The matrix inquiry program is set up so that the user must access the matrix with only two variable keys at a time, with the remaining keys set at a fixed value. This allows the program to display the data as an X-Y coordinate system. The user can vary which coordinates are fixed and which are variable, thus being able to view the matrix in many different ways, and at the same time accessing all possible combinations of keys.
Matrix axis subfile loading is done through two open query files (EC120M2X and EC120M2Y). All detail data matching the maintenance request (database type, part number, matrix number, and fixed key values) is first read from the Matrix Detail file (EC120M2) to the open query files. The subfiles are then loaded using the data in those two files.
