Valid Values
MAC-PAC offers a valid values function that allows you to request a listing of valid data for a specific field on a screen. To request a list of valid values, position your cursor on the desired field and press the F4 function key. Once the function key is pressed, a window is displayed listing the valid values for the field. However, depending on the field for which you want the information, a pre-selection window may be displayed that contains a set of enterable fields. You may enter data into these fields to be used as selection criteria for the valid values list. Only those values matching the criteria are displayed. Also, some valid values lists can be sorted once they are displayed by pressing the F8 function key.
When the valid values list is displayed, you may scroll through the list and select a line to be returned to the field on the screen or you can exit the window without selecting any values by pressing the F3 function key. To select a line, place an X in the select field of the line (the blank field on the very left) and press the Enter key.
In some cases, you may also view more detailed information for a line by entering a D in the select field and pressing Enter. If you select detail, a new screen is displayed with the detailed information for the line. You may return to the valid values window from the detail screen with the F3 key.
Note that valid values processing is available for screens generated through the Expert Configurator module. This processing is available for all fields that are validated against the Reference File. It is provided by the program, RFWIN. Although the program does not have a VV (valid values) name, it works exactly like the other simple valid values programs. Information about RFWIN is provided with the other valid values program documentation in the Technical Support Manual.
