MAC-PAC Menu Types
MAC-PAC Menu Types
MAC-PAC has two types of menus: application menus, which are controlled through the Menu Authorization facility, and processing menus, which are used to perform technical support functions.
Application Menus
Application menus have the following characteristics:
· They are defined through Menu Authorization using a single display format (screen). You can define as many menus as you wish and determine which programs are called from each menu option. When the system is shipped, one application menu is defined for each module except for Inventory Control. (Inventory Control has three menus: material planning, material control, and inventory analysis). The program called by each option on the Andersen Consulting application menus is documented in the corresponding user manual.
· They call interactive programs that perform data entry, online update, or online inquiry functions. Some menus also contain options to request and submit batch jobs.
· They execute in the interactive subsystem QINTER.
Processing Menus
Processing menus contain options typically performed by technical support personnel rather than end users. The menus are hierarchical and accessed through the system processing menu (CFSPMENU). The processing menus cannot be modified through Menu Authorization. Each submenu has its own display file and online help text. The following types of options exist on the system processing menu:
· Options for releasing pending jobs (either jobs for all modules or jobs for a particular module). These options are similar to the Release Submitted Jobs option on each of the application menus.
· File Support and Compatibility Check options. These options are described in a separate section in this chapter.
· System Support option. This option allows you to maintain the Error Messages File, maintain the Reference File, and translate Part Master data and screen literals for printing on multi-language customer and vendor documents.
· Menu Authorization. See the corresponding sections in this manual.
· Recovery Management. See the corresponding sections in this manual.
· Initiate/Cancel Monitors. See the Operation Procedures section of this manual.
· Help Facility. See the corresponding sections in this manual.
