This inquiry provides you with a time-phased, bucketed summary of the requirements and orders that make up the master schedule. Three totals are available with the inquiry. The Projected Available is the inventory expected to be available at the end of the period. Available to Promise is the inventory that can be promised to customer; this quantity will be available if everything produced in previous periods has already been promised. It is calculated by determining the difference between scheduled supply and scheduled demand in the present period. Cumulative Available to Promise includes the previous available to promise, because this quantity will be available if it is not promised in previous periods.
This inquiry can be used to promise ship dates for new customer orders, based on the available to promise calculation.
