Exhibit D: Balance Types, Warehouse Description Flags, and Relief Code
Each balance type has two flags: Order Planning and Distribution. If the Order Planning flag is Yes, then inventory in that balance type is included in the planning balance for Master Scheduling calculations.
The Warehouse Description File has two flags that affect Master Scheduling processing:
· Available for Planning. This flag is defined for all warehouses. However, it must be set to Y for a manufacturing warehouse. It can be set to Y (yes) or N (no) for a distribution warehouse. It determines whether the distribution inventory within the warehouse is included in the planning balance for Master Scheduling calculations.
· Sales Order Planning. This flag is defined for manufacturing warehouses only. It determines whether sales orders sourced from distribution inventory at the warehouse are included in the demand calculations.
The relief code is specified during sales order entry. It determines whether the order will be sourced from manufacturing inventory (that is, inventory in a balance type where the Order Planning flag is Yes) or distribution inventory (inventory in a balance type where the Distribution flag is Yes).
