Production Planning and Scheduling
Three types of information stored on the Part Master File control how production for an item is planned:
· Production Type. This field, entered on the Description screen of the Part Master Maintenance conversation, determines whether an item is planned using discrete, MRPII techniques or with flow, just-in-time techniques.
· Information entered on the Planning screen within the Part Master Maintenance conversation. Note that this information is entered for both MRP and JIT parts.
· Yield information entered on the Control screen of the Part Master Maintenance conversation and on the product structure. This information is used to inflate requirements to allow for scrapping.
For more information about any of the concepts discussed in this section, refer to the Master Scheduling, Requirements Planning, and Just-in-Time user manuals.
