Product Structure Mass Change
Product Structure Mass Change
The Product Structure Mass Change feature allows the user to enter one transaction to change many product structures where the specified part is used as a component. It can be used to replace one component with another or to change the quantity of component used per parent part.
One Product Structure Mass Change transaction has the same effect as entering multiple product structure maintenance transactions to update each parent/component relationship individually. When the user enters one mass change transaction, MAC-PAC:
· Finds all product structures where the part is used as a component.
· Determines when the new parent/component relationship will go into effect for each of the product structures.
· Writes the product structure maintenance transactions required to update each structure. To process these transactions, the user must access the Design Engineering System Processing Menu and request that the off-line product structure maintenance job be run.
The off-line transactions can be reviewed by selecting the Review Transactions option on the Design Engineering Application Menu. This menu selection displays all transactions associated with one reference ID. To simplify the review process, a special reference ID (such as MASSCHANGE) can be used to enter mass change transactions. By reviewing transactions for this special reference ID, the user will be able to focus on only those transactions that were created as a result of a mass change.
