Subclasses
Subclasses allow a further division of items within the same product class. No default values are associated with subclasses, and no MAC-PAC reports provide totals by product subclass. Defining subclasses simply allows you to track some sales information at a lower level of detail. Since subclasses are stored on sales history files, you can use Query to design your own reports based on subclass.
Subclasses are defined on Reference File category 427. They are assigned on the Description screen of the Part Master Maintenance conversation. Note that both product classes and subclasses are optional. It is possible to use classes without using subclasses, although you cannot define subclasses without defining classes.
