Product Classes and Subclasses
Product Classes and Subclasses
Product Classes and subclasses allow you to group items with the same characteristics. They are optional. Default values can be defined on the Reference File for each class to speed up the process of defining similar items. The fields for which defaults can be defined all relate to information used in selling the item. Inventory accounting and sales analysis also use product classes to track the cost of goods sold and to analyze sales history. Consequently, although you can create product classes for any types of items, they are designed to be used with items that are sold to customers.
