Forecast Report Preparation
Forecast Report Preparation
Forecast reports provide a forecast of the current year end results of operations. Forecasts are prepared for income statements only. Forecast amounts are derived by adding the year-to-date revenue and expense data to the budget amounts for the remainder of the year from the currently loaded budget. Report headings and line descriptions used on standard financial statements are used to prepare these reports. Column headings are fixed but can be changed through minor custom modifications.
The Financial Statement Report Selection is used to identify the entities for which forecast reports will be printed. The report date to be printed on each report must be specified. Forecast reports can be printed alone or in conjunction with financial statements. To print forecast reports for all entities, enter a value in the number of copies field on the top portion of the screen. Individual forecast reports can be printed by specifying a number of copies value for each report to be printed for each entity. Default rounding and detail print options can be changed when reports are selected for printing. The changed values for these options will be in effect only for the specified print request. To change the default rounding and detail options for an entity permanently, update the processing options record on the Reference File for the entity.
The Responsibility Reporting structure is established by the matching of responsibility codes on the Reference File Responsibility Table (category 108) records. Responsibility codes, which are assigned to each area of responsibility in the organization, are divided into two groups on the Responsibility Table: major responsibility codes and minor responsibility codes. Minor responsibility codes identify subordinate responsibility areas that report to higher-level areas of responsibility in the organization. Higher-level responsibility areas are identified by major responsibility codes. The structure allows multiple lower-level responsibility areas to report to a single higher-level responsibility area. In turn, several high-level areas of responsibility can report to one even higher-level responsibility area.
Several rules govern the assignment of major and minor responsibility codes on the Responsibility Table. For each minor responsibility code on the table, a corresponding major responsibility code must exist. Responsibility areas which do not report to a higher-level responsibility area have a major responsibility code of blanks. Within a single Responsibility Report, a minor responsibility area on one report cannot report to one of its minor responsibility areas on another report. However, a major responsibility area on one report can be a minor area of responsibility that reports to an even higher-level responsibility area on another report.
The matching of responsibility codes on the Responsibility Table (category 108) is illustrated in the following figure.
