EDI Receipt Transactions

 

The EDI Receipt program (ED120E) receives transactions (ANSI #856) previously translated by an external EDI translation package.

Performing EDI Receiving Asynchronously

1.   Initiate EDI Purchase Order Receipts Update Monitor.

2.   Receive EDI purchase order receipt transaction data (previously translated by an external software translation package) from outside locations.

The following key fields are received through the EDI interface:

·    Vendor Bill of Lading Number

·    Purchase Order Number

·    External Company/Warehouse

·    External Bill-to Customer

·    External Ship-to Customer

·    Direct Distribution Flag

·    Part Number

·    Original Order Quantity

·    Backordered Quantity

·    Vendor Lot Number

·    Lot Quantity

3.   Review the Control and Update/Variance reports (ED120A, ED120B) created by the monitor along with the Exception reports (ED520A, ED520B) created by the batch job EDI Purchase Order Receipt Exception Reporting to be submitted from the pending EDI jobs.

4.   Resolve transaction errors using the EDI Purchase Order Receipt Exception Resolution conversation.  For specific procedures, see Resolve Exception Transactions.

5.   For warehouse shipments (Ship Type = W), perform Quantity Control processing.

6.   For direct distribution shipments (Ship Type = D):

a.   Initiate the Electronic Data Collection (EDC) Monitor.

b.   Review Control report (BC200A) created by the EDC Monitor for shipment transactions.

c.   Resolve transaction errors using Order Processing Exception Resolution conversation (from the Electronic Data Collection Menu).

d.   Depending on the data setup on the Vendor Master file (Skip Confirmation = Y or N), process shipments through the EDC Shipping Confirmation conversation (from the Order Processing Menu).

Performing EDI Receiving in Batch

1.   Receive EDI purchase order receipt transaction data (previously translated by an external software translation package) from outside locations.

The following key fields are received through the EDI interface:

·    Vendor Bill of Lading Number

·    Purchase Order Number

·    External Company/Warehouse

·    External Bill-to Customer

·    External Ship-to Customer

·    Direct Distribution Flag

·    Part Number

·    Original Order Quantity

·    Backordered Quantity

·    Vendor Lot Number

·    Lot Quantity

2.   Select the Inbound Purchase Order Receipt Request option from the Electronic Data Interchange Menu.  Specify your request on the EDI Purchase Order Receipt Request Function Select screen (ED310S01).

3.   Use the Release Submitted Jobs option from the Electronic Data Interchange Menu to select the batch job EDI Receipt Request.

4.   Review the Control and Update/Variance reports (ED120A, ED120B) along with the Exception reports (ED520A, ED520B) created by the batch job EDI Purchase Order Receipt Exception Reporting to be submitted from the pending EDI jobs.
