The Manufacturing Subgroup category defines valid manufacturing subgroups used in the Expert Configurator module. Subgroups are defined for an existing group and plant (i.e., a subgroup must be defined for each plant separately to be valid for all plants). You can define subgroups and maintain the active version of the subgroup. Subgroups allow many parts to share common group rules, but also share subgroup rules with a smaller set of parts. Subgroups and group rules will be processed when any part defined for the group and subgroup is ordered. Parts are defined for a subgroup in Part Master Maintenance.
PLANT
Required. Enter the plant for which the subgroup is being defined.

ACTIVE VERSION NUMBER
Optional. Enter the active version number for the subgroup. The active version number is used to determine which version of subgroup rules will be processed when parts defined for this subgroup are ordered. If the field is blank, no group rules will be processed.
