The Location Security Table category defines the locations for which each operator is authorized to enter and review transactions. There are three types of records in this category: global, location, and operator. When an operator attempts to process a location, the appropriate record of each type is accessed to determine authority. If one or three records exist, the operator is not authorized to process a location. If zero or two records exist, the operator is authorized. For example, when OPERATOR 1 attempts to enter a journal for location 001 999, the following records are accessed:
RECORD TYPE COMPANY LOCATION OPERATOR
Global blank blank blank
Location 001 999 blank
Operator 001 999 OPERATOR 1
Before reading any records, everybody is authorized to maintain all locations. After reading the Global record, nobody is authorized to maintain any locations. After reading the Location record, everybody is authorized to maintain that location but nobody can maintain any other location. After reading the Operator record, that operator is not authorized to maintain the location but everybody else can maintain the location.
This category is only used within the Accounts Payable module during Invoice and Debit/Credit Memo Entry. When entering a debit or credit memo, you must be authorized to the company/location. This category is not used within Accounts Receivable or Inventory Accounting.
