The Family Codes category contains all the valid Family ID Codes used in the system. Family IDs are defined in JIT in the Part/Center Relationship Maintenance conversation on the Detail screen (JT160S02). They are used to group items whose design and process is so similar that it facilitates planning and manufacturing them together.
Although defined in JIT, family IDs are used in Requirements Planning during selective generation.
This is not a required category. If no records are created for this category, Family ID codes cannot be used.
FAMILY ID CODE
Optional. Used to define a family ID code that can be used in the system.
