TARGET INVENTORY

This is the quantity that you wish to have in stock.  The quantity is calculated by the Requirements Planning Generation or the Batch Forecast Generation Programs.

You may enter target inventory manually or let the Master Scheduling module calculate it for you.  If you enter a target, the tentative schedule quantities will be adjusted automatically to achieve the target inventory.

The Master Scheduling module calculates the target figure using the Target Inventory Weeks and Safety Stock for the part.  Target Inventory Weeks might be used by a company that ships to customers from stock.  It specifies the number of weeks' of future demand that should be held in inventory.
