Shipment Type Code

The shipment type code indicates whether an order is to be sourced from warehouse inventory or shipped directly from a vendor.  Valid shipment types are maintained on Reference File category 450.  Valid values are:

W - Warehouse ship.  This shipment type indicates that warehouse inventory will be used to fill the order and that availability checking should be performed.

D - Direct ship.  This shipment type indicates that the order will be shipped directly from the vendor to the customer.

C - Defer decision.  This shipment type is only valid for quotes and is used so that the decision whether to ship direct or from the warehouse can be deferred until the quote is converted into a sales order.
