Plant

Each company defined on the system can have multiple plants.  Each plant may have multiple distribution warehouses but only 1 manufacturing warehouse.  Plants are defined on the Warehouse Description File.  

Part information must be defined separately for each plant.  This information includes Part Master File records, bills of material, and routings.  In addition, all information about manufacturing activities (such as workcenters and labor rates) is also defined by plant.  

You may see part inventory levels at the plant level.  These levels are maintained by stocking location and balance type.  Once the levels are rolled up, you can see the total quantity for a part within a warehouse, plant, or company.
