Help Tag

Indicates whether the line corresponds to a particular area on the application screen.  Screen areas are defined in the DDS by assigning each area a help tag name.  When the cursor is placed in the corresponding screen area and help is called, all lines with the matching help tag are displayed in a window on the screen.  The user can press Enter from within the window to display all lines of help associated with the application screen.  The Help Tag field can also be used to locate information within the Help Text File.  If a line is assigned a help tag, you can enter that tag name on the select screen or the Scan For Tag field to move directly to that line.

A final use for the field is in copying text from one screen to another.  If text lines are associated with a help tag name, they can be copied easily from one screen to another.  (Without help tags, you would need to copy all lines for the screen and then delete any unnecessary ones).  Because of its usefulness in locating text within the file, you may wish to assign a help tag to a line even if that line is not associated with any screen area.  In using the help tag for this purpose, be careful not to assign a help tag name that is used in the DDS.
