Groups, Subgroups, and *All
The Expert Configurator allows many parts to share similar processing without duplicating the rules. This is done by defining groups and subgroups.
You can define a rule for a group or subgroup instead of a part by entering the group or subgroup name, preceded by an asterisk (*) in the Part Number field on the rule header screen. You can also define a rule for all parts by entering *ALL in the Part Number field on the rule header screen.
Group rules will be processed only for parts that are in the group. Subgroups are further divisions of groups. A part in a subgroup is also a member of the parent group, and will use both group and subgroup rules.
Groups and Subgroups are defined and maintained on the Reference File (categories Y21, Y22, Y23, Y24, Y25, and Y26).
