Family

Production center families are used within the JIT module to group similar production centers.  Centers within the same family appear next to each other on the Part Production Schedule Maintenance Detail screen.  This makes it easier to enter a part's production schedule when it is produced at many different production centers or cells. 

Production center families are defined on Reference File category D77.  On this category you can also define a default unit of measure for use at all centers within the family.  Production centers are assigned to families through the Production Center Maintenance conversation in JIT.
