Cost of Sales

 

The cost of goods sold for all sales.  For each sales order, the accounting standard value of each item at the time it is shipped is multiplied by the quantity shipped.  The total cost of sales is stored by period and bill-to customer on the Sales History File.  Totals can be viewed by customer class, product class/customer, product class/part, and product class within the Sales Analysis module. 

When adjustments are made, the adjustment code determines whether the Cost of Sales totals will be affected by the adjustment.  This option is specified on Reference File category 432.  If sales statistics are affected by the adjustment, the Cost of Sales total will be decreased for a return or an overpriced part and increased for an underpriced part.
