Transfer Order Status
Transfer Order Status
During its life, a transfer order will change its status three times: from new to open, from open to released, and from released to closed. The following is a brief description of each status.
New
A transfer order has a status of new only during the Transfer Order Maintenance conversation when it is first created.
Open
As soon as you end the Transfer Order Maintenance conversation after creating a transfer order, the status of the transfer order changes from new to open. This status signifies that no picking documentation has been generated for the order. Requisition lines may be attached to or detached from the order. Open transfer orders may not be shipped.
Released
When a picking document is generated, all transfer orders associated with the picker are released. Shipments may now be recorded against the order using the Transfer Order Shipping conversation. Transfer requisitions may still be attached to or detached from the order. A new picker will be generated unless you specify otherwise.
Closed
When all lines of a transfer order are closed, either manually in the Transfer Order Maintenance conversation or automatically upon final receipt of all shipments, the transfer order may be closed. You may manually close the order by selecting the close transfer order maintenance option in the Transfer Order Maintenance conversation. The order will also be closed if you view the order by selecting the change transfer order option, and then exit the conversation without creating a new line. Once closed, the transfer order may not be maintained. It will remain on the system for inquiry purposes until a file reorganization is performed for the Transfer Order files.
Note: Up to five line statuses may be entered on the Transfer Order Maintenance Function Select screen. They may be equal to Open, Closed, Released, Partial, or Fully Shipped. If entered, only lines with the entered statuses are displayed. If they are left blank, then all lines are displayed regardless of their status.
