Considerations
If the supplying company/warehouse cannot ship the ordered quantity for an existing transfer order line, you may follow one of two procedures:
· Leave the order line open until additional inventory becomes available. Any unshipped quantity will remain on the system for the life of the order line.
· Close the order line. The order line can be closed only if a receipt has been posted against each shipment made to date (in other words, the ordered item quantity in the in-transit warehouse is equal to zero).
When a transfer order line is closed, the status of partially filled requisitions associated with the order line will revert from covered (V) to released (R). The status of unfilled requisitions (received quantity equals zero) will be updated to released (R), leaving those requisitions eligible for coverage. Fully filled requisitions will have been updated to closed by the Transfer Order Receipts Program. Inventory allocations will be relieved to reflect the change in order line quantity.
The Transfer Order Shipping transaction enables you to make a reversal transaction under certain circumstances:
· No receipt has been recorded for the shipping transaction to be reversed
· Only one reversal transaction is allowed for a line since the reversal transaction annihilates all the shipments done against this line
· The shipment has not been invoiced.
A reversal transaction changes the line status to 'R' (released).
Transfer order shipments can also be selected and maintained depending on the line status. Fully shipped lines are displayed if these lines haven't been received so that you can reverse them. The Transfer Order Shipments and Receipts Inquiry transaction allows you to display shipments and receipts meeting the selected criteria.
Note: Once a transfer order is created, the transfer order line quantities may not be increased. Planners must create new order lines if the original order quantity is insufficient to meet requirements.
Transfer order line quantities may be reduced, but screen validation will ensure that each new order line quantity is greater than or equal to the quantity shipped to date for the line. For order lines covering requisitions, the quantity ordered can be reduced only by detaching requisitions from the line. Only requisitions with a received quantity of zero can be detached from a line. The status of detached requisitions is automatically changed to open, so they may be tied to other transfer order lines. If an order line does not correspond to any requisitions, the order quantity for that line can be manually reduced by the planner.
