The workline for the screen allows you to add or change displayed labor requirements. Only the Sequence Number and Request Code fields are displayed until you specify an add or update maintenance request.
o To add a requirement, type an O or an M in the Request Code field and press Enter. All fields for the line will be displayed with blanks, allowing you to enter the information.
o To change a requirement or perform some other maintenance, specify the appropriate sequence number and the request code.
SEQUENCE NUMBER
Must be blank for add (Request Type = O). Required for all other maintenance. In general, the value must be numeric and identify an existing labor requirements line. To move to the end of the list of requirements, you would type END in this field and enter the request code P.
REQUEST CODE
Required. Specifies what function will be performed. Valid values are:
M - Add a master operation.
C - Add a comment.
U - Update an operation, description, or comment.
D - Delete an operation, master, or comment.
A - Activate alternates for an operation.
P - Page to display a line.
OPERATION NUMBER
Required. Sequential number assigned to a manufacturing or assembly operation for the order. Must be numeric but not 000 or 999.
OPERATION LINE NUMBER
Required. Number assigned to identify alternates for an operation or routing. Must be numeric.
OPERATION TYPE
Required. If line exist during an update, the operation type defaults from the line. Must be blank for outside processed operations.
OPERATION DESCRIPTION
Required. Text describing the operation. It appears on the shop paperwork and on various inquiries and reports.
WORKCENTER NUMBER
Required. Number of the workcenter in which the operation is performed. Must exist on the Workcenter File. Workcenter numbers that are numeric and greater than 900 are reserved for outside processing only.
NUMBER OF PERSONS
Required for labor-pace workcenters. The number of persons required to perform the operation. Must be numeric and right-justified. This field has two significant digits and one decimal place. It cannot be zero for labor-paced workcenters but is optional for machine-paced workcenters. It must be blank for outside processed operations.
NUMBER OF MACHINES
Required for machine-paced workcenters. The number of machines used when performing the operation. Must be numeric and right-justified. This field has two significant digits and one decimal place. It cannot be zero for machine-paced workcenters but is optional for labor-paced workcenters. It must be blank for outside-processed workcenters.
SETUP HOURS
Optional. The number of hours required to set up this operation. Must be numeric and right-justified. This field has two significant digits and one decimal place. May be zero. Must be blank for outside-processed workcenters.
SENSITIVITY FLAG
Required for operation types 6 and 7 for parts made in batches. An N indicates that the fixed time load is truly fixed (never changing, no matter how many batches are produced). A Y indicates that the fixed time load is fixed as a function of batch quantity.
SENSITIVITY FACTOR
Required for operation types 6 and 7 where the sensitivity flag = yes. This field is used to determine the point at which another batch of time is needed to complete the order. The factor is a percentage of the batch quantity.
PIECE RATE
Required for add or update. For standard operations, this field enter either the labor/machine hours per piece, or the pieces per labor/machine hour at the operation. The pieces per hour or hours per piece option is specified for each plant on the Plant/Warehouse Description File. The Workcenter File specifies whether a workcenter is labor or machine paced.
For fixed-time operations (type 6 and 7), enter the amount of the fixed time incurred for the batch quantity at the operation step.
For outside-processed operations, enter the lead time in whole working days. It must not be zero or blank.
The resulting operation run time for the order quantity must not exceed the shop calendar horizon.
OVERLAP QUANTITY
Optional. Cannot be entered for operation types 1, 2, 3, 6 or 7; either Overlap Percent or Overlap Quantity must be entered for operation types 4 and 5. Specifies the quantity of parts that should be completed in the preceding operation before this operation can begin.
OVERLAP PERCENT
Optional. Cannot be entered for operation types 1, 2, 3, 6 or 7; either Overlap Percent or Overlap Quantity must be entered for operation types 4 and 5. Specifies the percentage of the order quantity that should be completed in the preceding operation before this operation can begin. It cannot be greater than 100 and cannot be zero.
OVERLAP TYPE
Required for operation types 4 and 5. Cannot be entered for operation types 1, 2, 3, 6, and 7. Code indicating if the value entered in the Overlap field is a quantity or percentage. The valid values are:
Q - The value entered in the Overlap field is a quantity.
P - The value entered in the Overlap field is a percentage.
CREW OPERATION FLAG
Required for update. Must be either:
Y - Quantity will be reported against this operation by the crew reporter.
N - Quantity will be reported against this operation by individual operators.
The field cannot be Y if the workcenter is machine paced. It must be blank for outside-processed workcenters. All operations associated with the same master operation must have identical crew flags.
START DATE
Optional for add and update. The start date of the individual operation in the order. It must be a working day on the Calendar Date File. It cannot be added if the due date is added. If the due date is updated, it can only be blanked out.
DUE DATE
Optional for add and update. The date when the individual operation will be complete. It must be a working day on the Calendar Date File. It cannot be entered if the start date is entered. If the start date is updated, it can only be blanked out.
MACHINE NUMBER
Optional. The machine used for the operation. It must be blank for outside-processed operations or master operations.
TOOL NUMBER
Optional. The tool or tool kit required for the operation. It must be blank for outside-processed operations or master operations.
PC LABOR HOURS
Optional. For a fixed-time operation, this field is used to define the labor hours for costing purposes. Labor and machine hours are divided by the average order quantity to develop unit labor and overhead costs. Enter the standard number of labor hours that contribute to the cost of the part per piece.
PC MACHINE HOURS
Optional. For a fixed-time operation, this field is used to define machine hours for costing purposes. Labor and machine hours are divided by the average order quantity to develop unit labor and overhead costs. Enter the standard number of machine hours that contribute to the cost per piece.
COMMAND KEYS
Enter - Update changes.
F3 - Exit the workline without update.
