The Simulation Maintenance conversation allows you to manipulate simulated schedules that were created through Requirements Planning Generation, and to see the schedules in a daily, weekly, monthly, or user-defined format. The Detail screen will display only active daily master scheduled, requirements planning, or service parts. Planning, reference, non-stock, non-standard, or bundled parts will not be retrieved.
PLANT
Required. Used to identify the plant in which maintenance/inquiry will be done. The plant must be valid, and you must be authorized to the manufacturing company/warehouse associated with the plant (Reference File category 409). It defaults to the plant assigned to your user ID, but may be changed by pressing F17.
PART NUMBER
Required if none of the following fields has been entered: Family, Planner Code, Buyer Code, or Group Technology Number fields. Optional if one of those fields has been entered. Enter a part number if you want to maintain simulated schedules for that part only. It must be a valid part that has been defined in the given plant on the Part Master File.
FAMILY
Required if none of the following fields has been entered: Part Number, Planner Code, Buyer Code, or Group Technology Number fields. Optional if one of these fields has been entered. Enter a valid family that has been defined on Reference File category 423. Only parts for this family will be displayed on the Detail screen.
PLANNER CODE
Required if none of the following fields has been entered: Part Number, Family, Buyer Code, or Group Technology Number fields. Optional if one of these fields has been entered. If you enter a planner code, the planner must exist on Reference File category 235. Only parts with this planner code will be displayed on the Detail screen.
BUYER CODE
Required if none of the following fields has been entered: Part Number, Family, Planner Code, or Group Technology Number fields. Optional if one of these fields has been entered. If you enter a buyer code, it must exist on Reference File category 238. Only simulated orders having the buyer code that you entered will be displayed on the Detail screen.
GROUP TECHNOLOGY NUMBER
Required if none of the following fields has been entered: Part Number, Family, Planner Code, or Buyer Code fields. Optional if one of these fields has been entered. Enter a group technology number. Parts associated only with the specified group technology number will be displayed on the Detail screen.
HORIZON DATE
Required. Simulated schedules will be displayed through this date.
PARTS WITH SCHEDULE
Required. If you enter Y (yes), only parts that meet the selection criteria and that have simulated schedules will be displayed on the Detail screen. If you enter N (no), all parts that meet the selection criteria will be displayed on the Detail screen. This field defaults to N.
PART BY-PASS
Required. Valid values are Y (yes) or N (no). This value of this flag determines whether or not the system will update the Part By-Pass flag on the Part Master File automatically. While in simulation mode, Requirements Planning Generation will skip over any part whose by-pass flag is Y. Thus, you can modify a part's simulated schedule, set its by-pass flag to Y, and then rerun Requirements Planning Generation in simulation mode to see the effects of the changes.
If you make any changes to the summarized schedule, you will need to change the detail records that support the summarized schedule. If you entered Y in the Planned Order Override field on the Function Select screen, and if a planned order can be changed to meet the requirements in the period, the system will change the order automatically. If a planned order cannot be changed, a detail window (Simulation Maintenance Supply Window (RP145S02)) will appear forcing you to adjust existing orders. You may also use this window to create additional simulated planned orders or modify any existing orders. To display this screen, place your cursor on any of the time period fields and press F4.
If you enter N, you must manually change the By-Pass flag on the Detail screen.
PLANNED ORDER OVERRIDE
Required. Valid values are Y (yes) or N (no). This flag determines whether or not MAC-PAC should adjust planned simulated orders to match changes that are made on the Detail screen. If you enter Y, MAC-PAC will try to adjust any planned orders before bringing up the detail order window. If no non-planned orders exist, MAC-PAC will add a planned order, if necessary.
If you enter N, orders must be changed manually to match changes made on the Detail screen. If the quantities in the summary buckets changed, a detail window will appear automatically.
ORDER FREEZE
Required. Valid values are Y (yes) or N (no). This field determines whether or not MAC-PAC should update the order freeze flag of a changed simulated order automatically thereby preventing Requirements Planning Generation from overriding a particular order. If the field is set to Y, then MAC-PAC will change an order's freeze flag to Y automatically if any changes are made to the order. If the field is set to N, the order's freeze flag must be changed manually. This flag does not apply to flow authorizations.
PLANNING PERIOD OPTION
Required. Specifies the periods for which simulated order information will be summarized and reported on the Detail screen. Valid values are:
1 - Calendar Weeks
2 - Calendar Months
3 - Calendar Periods
4 - Daily Intervals
COMMAND KEYS
F2 - Display a window where a fast path option or a mnemonic can be entered. Fast path allows the next menu selection to be made directly from this screen. When the window is displayed, pressing F3 will remove it.
F3 - Exit program without processing the entered data.
F4 - Display a list of values for the field where the cursor is positioned. If you select one of the items from the list, it will be returned to the application screen.
F7 - Access the Planning Action Review screen (RP810S01).
F9 - Access the Requirements Review Function Select screen (RP800S01).
F11 - Access the Key Facility Inquiry Function Select screen (MS800S01).
F13 - Access the Simulation Reconciliation Function Select screen (RP150S01).
F15 - Access the Planner's Comments screen (CF190S10).
F17 - Change the plant for which data is displayed/ maintained. The current plant is displayed on the top left-hand side of the screen.
F24 - Display additional command keys that are valid for the current screen.
