This screen is used to request a current or standard cost generation or a cost simulation. You may also select the printing of Product Cost Sheet Reports associated with the requested generation or simulation. If a cost simulation is selected, the screens for entry of simulation parameters are displayed.
NOTE: Because cost simulations are based on current costs, you may wish to perform a current cost generation to ensure that a comparison of current to simulated costs is based on the most up to date information.
PLANT
Required. Used to identify the plant where the generation will be performed. The plant must be valid, and you must be authorized to the manufacturing company/warehouse associated with the plant (Reference File category 409). Defaults to the plant assigned to your user ID, but may be changed via Command Key 17.
SUBMIT COST GENERATION REQUEST
Required. Enter an 'X' to request the Cost Generation.
COST TYPE
Required. Indicates the type of costs to be generated. Valid values are:
CUR -- Current costs will be generated based on current material, labor, and overhead data.
STD -- Standard costs will be generated based on standard material, labor, and overhead data.
SIM -- Simulated costs will be generated based on the specified simulation trial ID.
STANDARD ROLLOVER FLAG
Required for a current cost generation or simulation. Not used for standard cost generation. Indicates whether parts processed in the generation/ simulation will be included in the next selective cost rollover. Valid values are:
Y - The Current Rollover Code or Simulated Rollover Code on the Part Master File will be set to 'Y' for every item processed via the requested generation. These parts will be included in the next selective cost rollover, unless you manually re-set the flags to 'N' on the Part Master.
N - The rollover flags on the Part Master File will not be updated during the generation/simulation. The newly generated costs will not be included in the next selective rollover, unless you manually set the appropriate flag to 'Y' on the Part Master.
PRINT COST SHEET
Required. Valid values are:
Y (Yes) - Product Cost Sheets for the specified cost type will be printed upon completion of the cost generation/simulation.
N (No) - Product Cost Sheets will not be printed.
GENERATION TYPE
Required. Valid values are:
F (Full) - If a full generation is selected, costs will be re-calculated for all parts. A full generation cannot be performed for standard costs. The appropriate procedure would be to generate current costs, then to 'roll' current costs to standard using the Standard Cost Rollover.
S (Selective) - For current costs, a selective generation processes all parts that have been flagged by the system for recosting because of a change in design or cost elements. For standard costs, only parts that have been selected (by setting the Standard Cost Update Flag to 'Y' using Part Cost Maintenance) are processed. For simulation, each part affected by the cost simulation parameters is processed.
PRINTER LOCATION
Required. Enter the printer location (output queue) where the Cost Generation/Simulation Report should be printed. It must be a valid system printer which is defined on Reference File category C07 (Printer Locations). If left blank, it will default to the printer location last used when the generation/simulation was requested for the given plant.
SIMULATION TRIAL ID
Optional. User-defined. Can be used to identify simulation results or the requestor of the simulation. May be entered only when a cost simulation is requested.
EFFECTIVITY DATE
Required. The generation will be based on the product design that is in effect on the selected date. The effectivity date that was last requested is displayed.
If the cost type is CUR (current), and the effectivity date entered is less than the effectivity date of the last current cost generation, the generation type must be Full.
If the cost type is SIM (simulation) and the generation type is Full, an effectivity date may be specified.
If the cost type is SIM and the generation type is S (selective), the effectivity date must equal the actual current cost effectivity date. If this date is entered incorrectly, the screen will redisplay the correct date.
REQUESTOR
Optional. The name or code entered here will appear on the Product Cost Sheets.
COMMAND KEYS
Enter - Submit Cost Generation/Simulation request.
F2 - Display a window where a fast path option or mnemonic can be entered. Fast path allows the next menu selection to be made directly from this screen. When the window is displayed, pressing F3 will remove it.
F3 - Exit program and return to menu.
F4 - Display a list of values for the field where the cursor is positioned. If you select one of the items from the list, it will be returned to the application screen.
F17 - Change the plant in which the user is currently working.
