This screen is used to define simulation requests for material costs. Simulated cost changes may be requested for any purchased, raw material, transfer, non-stock, or manufactured part that is costed as a purchased part. Three types of simulated parameters may be requested:
o A percentage change in the cost of all parts
o A percentage change in the cost of all costs associated with a specified cost code
o An actual cost for a specified part/cost code combination.
PLANT
Display Only. The plant for which the cost simulation is being defined.
ALL COST ELEMENTS
Optional. Enter a positive percentage to simulate an increase in the cost of all parts; to simulate a reduction in costs, enter a positive number followed by a negative sign. To leave the costs as they are, leave the zero (the default value).
PART COSTS
Optional. Used to enter an actual cost for a specific part and cost code. The part number, cost code, and cost must all be entered. The part must be an active purchased, raw material, transfer, or non-stocked part. The part number/cost code combination must exist on the Part Costs File.
If a part/cost is affected by more than one simulation parameter, for example, a specified Part/Cost is entered and the All Cost Elements percentage is entered, the following priority is used by the simulated cost generation:
1. Single part/cost transactions
2. Percentage by cost code
3. All cost element codes percentage.
COST CODE
Display only. A three-character code used to identify a cost element. All cost elements that can be maintained on the Part Costs File are displayed on this screen; use the roll keys to scroll through the list of elements. To change the unit cost of all parts associated with one cost code, type a number in the corresponding Percent Change field. Type a positive number to inflate the cost and a positive number followed by a negative sign to reduce the costs.
Cost elements are defined on Reference File category C17. They are associated with parts on the Part Costs File.
COST DESCRIPTION
Display only. Text describing the cost element. Cost element codes and their descriptions are defined on Reference File category C17.
COST CODE PERCENTAGE
Optional. The percentage by which the corresponding cost code should be inflated or reduced. All parts with a unit cost associated with the cost code will be affected by the simulation. To inflate the costs, enter a positive number. To reduce the costs, enter a positive number followed by a negative sign. To leave the costs as they are, leave the zero (the default value).
COMMAND KEYS
Enter - Update the simulation parameters.
F2 - Display a window where a fast path option or mnemonic can be entered. Fast path allows the next menu selection to be made directly from this screen. When the window is displayed, pressing F3 will remove it.
F3 - Exit program.
F4 - Display a list of values for the field where the cursor is positioned. If you select one of the items from the list, it will be returned to the application screen.
F7 - Display the Cost Simulation Labor/Burden Change screen.
F8 - Display the Cost Generation/Simulation Request Entry screen.
F9 - The Product Cost Analysis Select screen is displayed.
