This screen is used to select a maintenance function for defining, modifying or deleting workcenters.
PLANT
Required. Used to identify the plant in which maintenance will be done. The plant must be valid (not blanks or nines) and the user must authorized to the manufacturing company/warehouse associated with the plant (Reference File category 409). Defaults to the plant assigned to the user's ID, but may be changed by pressing F17.
WORKCENTER NUMBER
Required. The workcenter number defines a work unit, such as a machine, a set of machines or a specialized labor function. For an Addition or New Workcenter Setup, the workcenter must not exist; for any other maintenance option, the workcenter must already exist. A workcenter number that is numeric and has a value of 900 or greater is regarded as a miscellaneous cost workcenter and is used to define a production step that occurs outside of the shop floor, or to add a miscellaneous cost to a production order.
MAINTENANCE CODE
Required. The Maintenance Code allows you to select the function you wish to perform for the specified workcenter.
Options 1 and 2 provide you with two methods for defining a new workcenter. Option 1 (New Workcenter Setup) allows you to define all attributes of a work center by paging through the description and planning maintenance screens. Option 2 (Addition) allows you to add a new workcenter by entering the description fields using a single screen only. All other data is defaulted and may be modified later using options 4 and 5 described below.
Option 3 allows you to reactivate a workcenter that has been designated inactive (see Option 6).
Options 4 and 5 allow you to modify either the description or the planning information for the workcenter.
Option 6 allows you to designate the selected work center as inactive. An inactive workcenter is considered ineligible for use, but may be reactivated at a later date. To remove the workcenter completely, a separate delete function must be performed.
The workcenter cannot be made inactive if:
- the workcenter is used in a routing step
- the workcenter is used in a Labor Requirement
- the workcenter is used in a Capacity Planning Labor Requirement.
