This workline allows you to add or change information for a primary or alternate operation on the routing.  It is displayed when A (add a standard operation) was specified as the maintenance code or when U (update) was specified and a standard operation was entered in the Sequence Number field.

SEQUENCE NUMBER

Display only.  The routing line being maintained.

MAINTENANCE CODE

Display only.  The type of maintenance being performed.

OPERATION NUMBER

Required.  A unique identification of a routing step.  It defines the order in which the steps are performed on the routing.

OPERATION LINE NUMBER

Required.  For a standard operation, use a line number of 00.  Use a non-zero line number for an alternate operation.

OPERATION TYPE

Required.  Valid values are defined on Reference File category F75.  For more information about operation types, type an X in the space to the left of this description and press F11.

WORKCENTER NUMBER

Required.  The workcenter where the operation is performed.  Workcenter numbers that are numeric and greater than or equal to 900 are reserved for miscellaneous cost workcenters and are not valid for operations on this screen.

NUMBER OF PERSONS

Required for labor-paced operations.  Optional for machine-paced operations.  The number of persons (or crew size) required to run the operation.

NUMBER OF MACHINES

Required for machine-paced operations.  Optional for labor-paced operations.  The number of machines required to run the operation.

SETUP HOURS

Optional.  The number of hours required to set up the operation, regardless of order quantity.  This field contains one decimal place.  It is used in Shop Floor Control to schedule operations and in Capacity Planning to analyze load.

PIECE RATE

Required.  For operation types 1-5, enter the production rate in terms of either the pieces per hour or the hours per piece (depending on the Piece Rate Standard that was defined on the manufacturing warehouse for the plant).  For fixed-time operations (types 6 and 7), enter the amount of fixed time incurred for the batch quantity at the operation step.

CREW OPERATION FLAG

Required.  Specifies whether or not the operation is a crew operation.  Valid values are:

Y - Yes, the operation is a crew operation.  Quantities will be recorded by the crew reporter.

N - No, the operation is not a crew operation.  Quantities will be recorded by individual operators.  The field must be N for machine-paced workcenters.

OVERLAP PERCENT/QUANTITY

Must be blank for operation types 1, 2, 3, 6, or 7.  Required for operations types 4 and 5.  The percentage or quantity of parts that should be completed at the preceding operation before this operation can begin.  The Overlap P/Q Code field specifies whether this field contains a percentage or a quantity.  A percent must be greater than 0 and less than or equal to 100.  The overlap quantity has no decimal places.

OVERLAP P/Q CODE

Must be blank for operation types 1, 2, 3, 6, and 7.  Required for operation types 4 and 5.  Specifies whether the value in the Overlap Percent/ Quantity field is a percentage (P) or a quantity (Q).

ENGINEERING CHANGE ORDER - IN

Required if Reference File category N38 (Routing ECO Date Option) is 1 - ECO Required.  Identifies the ECO that brings an operation into effectivity.  If entered, must be defined on the ECO file.

EFFECTIVITY-IN DATE

Optional.  Used for an "in" engineering change to indicate the first date when the operation should appear on the routing.  If field is left blank, but the ECO field has been entered, the date is defaulted from the ECO file.  The date is system maintained if Reference File category N38 is 1 or 2.

ENGINEERING CHANGE ORDER - OUT

Required if Reference File category N38 (Routing ECO Date Option) is 1 - ECO Required.  Identifies the engineering change that causes the operation to be removed from the routing.  If entered, must be defined on the ECO file.

EFFECTIVITY-OUT DATE

Optional.  Used for an "out" engineering change to indicate the date after which the operation should be removed from the routing.  If field is left blank, but the ECO field has been entered, the date is defaulted from the ECO file.  The date is system maintained if Reference File category N38 is 1 or 2.

WORKCENTER DESCRIPTION

Required.  Text describing the workcenter.  It will be printed on shop paperwork and various inquiries and reports.

MACHINE NUMBER

Optional.  The machine required or recommended for the operation.  No validation is performed.

TOOL NUMBER

Optional.  Used to document any tooling required for this operation.  Additional tooling may be defined in the comments for this operation.  No validation is performed.

COMMAND KEYS
