This screen allows you to enter or change the routing steps defined for an MRP part. It lists all the primary operation steps (as well as comments and secondary/ alternate operations, if so selected on the Function Select screen) currently defined for the part number within the given plant.
There are two ways to add or change operation steps:
o Using a workline to enter/change/delete a line.
o Using a detail screen for a selected line. Using the workline allows you to see all operations while entering the information. Using the detail screen allows you to enter some additional fields.
Using the workline:
1. Type the sequence number and the maintenance code (A for add, U for update of operation or comment, D for delete of operation or comment, M for add of master operation, and C for addition of a comment record). A workline for the data will appear (To add a new operation or comment, do not enter a new sequence number, but just the maintenance code: operation number entered will automatically insert the line correctly. To change or delete a line, enter the sequence number for the line and the proper maintenance code).
2. A workline will be displayed allowing you to enter fields, change existing fields, or confirm deletion for the line.
3. Make your additions/changes and press ENTER.
Different worklines are displayed depending on which maintenance code is chosen. Help text exists for each of the worklines and is specific to the type of information required. The text for this screen relates to the display-only fields shown on the screen header and for each existing line of the routing.
If a MAC-PAC warning message appears stating that the Part Master batch quantity field is not equal to the routing file record's batch quantity for a given part-operation step relationship (highlighted lines), then that record (line) needs to be maintained by simply "changing" the line (pull the line down in change mode and hit enter) and updating the routing structure record with the new Part Master batch quantity. This warning is intended to make users aware that the piece rate per batch relationship may no longer be valid. In that case, the piece rate field should also be changed to reflect the true "batch rate" for the given operation step.
Using the Detail Screen:
1. Type the sequence number on the bottom of the screen.
2. Press F7 to display the detail screen.
PLANT
Display only. The plant where the routing is used. It was entered on the Function Select screen.
PART NUMBER
Display only. The item that is manufactured using this routing. It was entered on the Function Select screen.
PART DESCRIPTION
Display only. Text that helps identify the item. It was retrieved from the Part Master File.
BATCH QUANTITY
Display only. Not displayed for parts with a batch quantity of 1. The standard quantity of the item that is produced in each production run. This number is expressed in the stockkeeping unit of measure. It is retrieved from the Part Master File.
SEQUENCE NUMBER
Display only. Number indicating the order in which operations are displayed on this screen and printed on shop paperwork. The sequence numbers are maintained by the system. You delete or change one of the displayed lines by entering its sequence number on the workline at the bottom of the screen.
OPERATION/LINE NUMBER
Display only. A unique identification of the operation step. This number defines the sequence in which the steps are performed within the routing. The first three digits define the operation number, the last two digits define the line number. Use a line number of '00' to define a standard operation and a non-zero number for an alternative operation.
OPERATION TYPE
Display only. The valid operations are:
1 - Standard
2 - Master
3 - Setup only overlap
4 - Run time overlap
5 - Setup and run time overlap
6 - Fixed time no overlap
7 - Fixed time setup only overlap
COMMENT LINE NUMBER
Display only. Indicates the sequence used to display comments for an operation.
OPERATION DESCRIPTION
Display only. Text describing the operation. It is printed on shop paperwork and on various inquiries and reports.
WORKCENTER NUMBER
Display only. The number of the workcenter in which the operation is performed. Workcenter numbers that are numeric and greater than or equal 900 are reserved as miscellaneous cost workcenters.
NUMBER OF PERSONS
Display only. The number of persons (or crew size) required to perform the operation. It is required for labor-paced operations.
NUMBER OF MACHINES
Display only. The number of machines required for this operation. It is required for machine-paced operations.
SETUP HOURS
Display only. Number of hours required to set up this operation, regardless of order quantity. This field has one decimal place. It is used in the Shop Floor Control scheduling logic and Capacity Planning load logic.
PIECE RATE
Display only. This field defines the production rate for the operation in terms of either the number of pieces per hour, or the number of hours per piece. It is required for operation types 1 through 5. For fixed-time operations (types 6 and 7), this field represents the amount of fixed time incurred at the operation per unit or per batch, if the batch quantity is greater than 1.
OPERATION LEADTIME DAYS
Display only. For operations that are outside-processed, this field represents the amount of time that the operation takes at the outside workcenter.
CREW OPERATION FLAG
Display only. Valid values are:
Y - The operation is a crew operation. All quantities will be recorded by the crew reporter.
N - The operation is not a crew operation. Quantities will be recorded by individual operators. For machine-paced workcenters, this field is always N.
OVERLAP PERCENT
Display only. For operation types 1, 2, 3, 6, or 7, this field is blank. Either Overlap Percent or Overlap Quantity is entered for types 4 and 5. Specifies the percentage of the order quantity that should be completed in the preceding operation before this operation can begin.
OVERLAP QUANTITY
Display only. This field is always blank for operation types 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, or 7. Either Overlap Percent or Overlap Quantity is defined for types 4 and 5. Specifies the quantity of parts that should be completed in the preceding operation before this operation can begin. This field has no decimal places.
MACHINE NUMBER
Display only. Specifies the machine required or recommended for this operation.
TOOL NUMBER
Display only. Documents any tooling required for this operation. Additional tooling may be defined in the comments for this operation.
P/Q
If Overlap P/Q field is filled in, this field determines whether the quantity entered in the Overlap P/Q field is a percent (P) or quantity (Q).
ENGINEERING CHANGE ORDER - IN
Display only. Identifies the ECO that brings an operation into effectivity. If entered, must be defined on the ECO file.
EFFECTIVITY-IN DATE
Display only. For IN engineering changes, the first date the operation should appear in the part's routing. The date is system maintained if Reference File category N38 is 1 or 2.
ENGINEERING CHANGE ORDER - OUT
Display only. Identifies the engineering change that causes the operation to be removed from the routing. If entered, must be defined on the ECO file.
EFFECTIVITY-OUT DATE
Display only. For OUT engineering changes, the date after which the operation should be removed from the part's routing. The date is system maintained if Reference File category N38 is 1 or 2.
COMMAND KEYS
Enter - Update changes. If you press a command key to move to another program before pressing Enter, your changes will not be updated.
F2 - Display a window where a fast path option or mnemonic can be entered. Fast path allows the next menu selection to be made directly from this screen. When the window is displayed, pressing F3 will remove it.
F3 - Display Manufacturing Engineering Menu to select another option.
F4 - Display a list of values for the field where the cursor is positioned. If you select one of the items from the list, it will be returned to the application screen.
