This conversation allows you to record unplanned usage (scrap) of one or more components of a JIT part. Because scrapped components are never received, and therefore never backflushed, this conversation must be used to issue scrapped components of JIT parts.
PLANT
Required. The plant where the scrap was incurred. The plant must be defined on the Plant/Warehouse Description File, and you must be authorized to the plant on Reference File category 409.
PART NUMBER - PARENT
Required. Enter the parent part for which unplanned usage is to be recorded. This part must be active on the Part Master File, and must be a manufacturing or build-through part with a production type of JIT.
PRODUCTION CENTER
Required. Indicates the production center in which transactions will be recorded. The production center must be defined on the Production Center File.
REVISION LEVEL
Optional. If the Part Number - Component field is left blank, all components in effect for this revision level of the parent will be displayed on the detail screen, allowing you to enter scrap quantities for any component. recording. If left blank, the value will default to the current revision level.
EFFECTIVITY DATE
Optional. If the Part Number - Component field is blank and the Force Ad-Hoc Creation flag on Reference File category K03 is set to Y (yes) for the current plant, then the current transaction date on the upper right hand corner of the screen will default to this field. All components of the parent effective on this date will be displayed on the Detail screen allowing you to enter scrap quantities for any component recording. You may enter a date greater than today’s date, even though the transaction date must be equal to or less than today’s date.
PART NUMBER - COMPONENT
Optional. To record unplanned usage for a single component of the parent part, enter the part number of the component. To record unplanned usage for several components, leave this field blank; the following screen will allow you to select components for recording purposes. If entered, the component must be active on the Part Master File, and must be a manufacturing raw material, purchased part, or build-through part.
REASON CODE
Required if a component part number is entered. Enter a reason code explaining why the unplanned usage occurred. This code must appear on Reference File category C06.
If the reason type is "R," MAC-PAC makes a negative adjustment to the stock location specified on the Unplanned Usage Detail screen. Typically, a reason code with a type "R" is used to issue more material than was previously backflushed, deduct issued, or lot issued.
If the reason type is "W," MAC-PAC reduces the WIP JIT balance for the component and makes a positive inventory adjustment to the location specified on the Unplanned Usage Detail screen. A reason code of "W" is used when too much material was previously issued through deduct issues or lot issues. It must be removed from WIP and returned to inventory.
TRANSACTION QUANTITY
Required if a component part number is entered. Enter the quantity of unplanned usage that occurred.
DOCUMENT NUMBER
Optional. Used to indicate any documents that support this transaction. This field has no effect on the system.
REVERSAL CODE
Optional. Enter R if this transaction will back out a previously entered transaction. Otherwise, leave blank. Reversal is not permitted for lot-controlled parts if the specified lot number does not exist on the Lot Control File.
PARENT LOT NUMBER
Required if part is lot-controlled. Otherwise, leave this field blank. (This field is displayed only in a lot-controlled environment.) Enter the lot number to which the parent part belongs. If the specified lot number exists on the Lot Control File, it must be a manufacturing lot type with a status other than closed. If the lot is on hold, an error message is displayed, and the lot number is highlighted. No inventory may be issued from or received into a lot that is on hold.
AREA RESPONSIBLE
Optional. The area that caused the unplanned material usage. This field has no effect on system processing; the material variance will be reported for the area associated with the production center.
COMPONENT LOT NUMBER
Required if the part is lot-controlled. Otherwise, leave this field blank. Enter the lot number to which the component part belongs. If the specified number exists on the Lot Control File, it must be a manufacturing lot type with a status other than closed. If the lot is on hold, an error message is displayed, and the lot number is displayed in reverse image. No inventory may be issued from or received into a lot that is on hold. This field is displayed only in a lot-controlled environment.
