This screen is used to define productivity information for a part that is created in a particular production center. This information should be defined for every production center in which a JIT part is manufactured using Just-In-Time manufacturing techniques. The production centers, however, must be within the same family (Reference File category D88).
Even if part/production center relationships are not specifically defined, the JIT module will authorize operations in production centers within the same family (as defined on the Production Center File) by defaulting productivity information from the default part/production center relationship.
A default part/production center relationship is automatically created by the Part Master Maintenance conversation when the primary production center for a part is defined. This primary production center is the production center in flow schedules; flow requirements are automatically created by the MS and RP Planning modules.
Production can be smoothed over several production centers by decreasing production in the primary production center and rescheduling or "adding it" to the production centers that are within the same family. (You do not need to establish a part/production center relationship with these production centers.)
If the CONBON module is installed, part/production center relationship records must be established for every production center in which a JIT part is produced. This is because the CONBON Analysis Program reads all part/production center relationship records for a part to access the flow schedules (flow authorizations) and flow requirements for a part produced in a particular production center.
Establishing these additional non-primary part/production center records is streamlined by the default of information from the Productivity screen on the Part Master File (primary part/production center relationship). It allows information such as container quantity, production location, etc. to remain identical in non-primary production centers for a part or to be altered with minimal effort. The Inventory Netting flag can be changed only on the Part Master File.
PLANT
Required. Used to identify the plant in which maintenance/inquiry will be done. The plant must be valid, and you must be authorized to the manufacturing company/warehouse associated with the plant (Reference File category 409). Defaults to the plant assigned to your user ID.
PART NUMBER
Display only. This is the part number from the Function Select screen. The part's description will appear immediately to the right of the part number.
STOCKKEEPING UNIT OF MEASURE
Display only. The stockkeeping unit of measure of the part as defined on the Part Master file.
PRODUCTION CENTER
Display only. Shows the production center where the part is produced. The production center's description will appear immediately to the right of the production center number.
CAPACITY UNIT OF MEASURE
Display only. The capacity unit of measure of the production Center as defined on the Production Center file.
BATCH QUANTITY
Display only. The quantity of the part typically made in one run of its manufacturing process.
PRODUCTION CENTER CAPACITY
Display only. The daily maximum production capacity of the production center as defined on the Production Center file.
CONBON CONTROL CODE
Optional. If entered, this value must be defined on Reference File category C03. The following CONBON Control Codes are the standard codes used in the system:
0 - No Cards
1 - Single Card
2 - Dual Card
If CONBON is not installed, the CONBON Control Code defaults to '0'; if CONBON is installed, the CONBON Control Code defaults to '2'. To obtain more detail information about this code and how it works in conjunction with the Relief Type field to determine where component inventory is issued from and parent inventory is received into in terms of locations, type an 'X' next to this paragraph and press F11.
RELIEF TYPE
Optional. Must be defined on Reference File category C02. The following Relief Types are the standard codes used in the system:
1 - Point of Use
2 - Point of Production
To obtain more detail information about the Relief Type and how it works in conjunction with the CONBON Control Code to determine where inventory Is issued from and received into, type an 'X' next to this paragraph and press F11.
AUTHORIZED QUANTITY
Optional. The minimum quantity required to authorize production of a JIT production part. This field is used in calculating the number of suggested CON cards to initiate and control production of the part on the shop floor, if the CONBON module is installed. To obtain a detailed explanation of how this field is used in CONBON calculations, type an "X" to the left and press F11.
STOCK QUEUE DAYS
Optional. This entry determines the number of days stock in the outbound queue. This entry must be numeric, right-justified and up to one decimal and two significant digits. To obtain a detailed explanation of how stock queue days are used in CONBON calculations, type an "X" to the left and press F11.
CONTAINER CODE
Optional. Enter the code number for the standard container used for the part. Valid container codes are defined on the Container Master File (DE130M).
CONTAINER QUANTITY
Optional. Enter the number of parts that can be carried in the standard container. A container may often be used to record inventory transactions in a Just-In-Time environment. The container quantity should be less than the authorized quantity. This avoids authorization of less than one container. To obtain a detailed explanation of how the container quantity is used in CONBON calculations, type an "X" to the left and press F11.
PRODUCING LOCATION
Optional. Must be a location on the Location Validation File.
RELIEF LOCATION
Optional. Must be a location on the Location Validation File.
GROUP TECHNOLOGY NUMBER
Optional. Enter the group technology or cell identifier associated with this part.
FAMILY ID
Optional. Enter the identifier for the family of which the part is a member. Defined through Reference File category 423.
RUN UNITS
Optional. For JIT parts, this is the load incurred to the production center to manufacture one unit of this part. This load is expressed in the unit of measure of production center's capacity. If not defined, the production schedule maintenance and inquiry programs will use the Run Units defined on the default Part/Production Center Relationship record (and thus the Part Master File) for calculating load on a given production center.
COMMAND KEYS
