Defining Lots
Defining Lots
Within the Inventory Control module, you can define lots through three conversations:
· The Lot Maintenance conversation (IC150E)
· The Inventory Adjustment conversation (IC120E)
· The Manufacturing Order Receipt/Component Issues conversation (IC130E)
The Lot Maintenance Conversation (IC150E)
The Lot Maintenance conversation allows you to manually create lot records on the Lot Control File (IC150M). Purchase order and manufacturing lots can be created; you may also reopen a closed lot and maintain user-defined information for the lots. The Function Select screen has separate maintenance codes for each of the aforementioned options, allowing you to access the relevant maintenance screen directly. To set up all information at once, use the maintenance codes for New Purchase Order Lot Setup or New Manufacturing Lot Setup.

Use Lot Maintenance to Manually Create a Lot.
Purchase order lots can be created for purchase, raw material, transfer, manufacturing, and/or build-thru parts. This conversation allows you to create a lot even before you receive inventory. If a part is purchased or raw material in one plant, but manufactured, build-thru, or a transfer part in at least one other plant, you may still add a manufacturing lot because lots are defined globally for a part.
Manufacturing lots can be created for manufactured, build-thru, or transfer part types. This conversation allows you to create a lot even before you receive inventory.
Features of this conversation include the lot retest date, the lot release date, the lot expiration grace period, and a lot hold flag. If the part is potency controlled, you may also record the part's actual potency and the potency level of the part assigned by the vendor. In addition, you may enter data specific to your company about the lot; this information is stored on the Lot Control File (IC150M).
The Inventory Adjustment Conversation (IC120E)
The Inventory Adjustment conversation (IC120E) allows you to create a lot automatically when you record an inventory adjustment. When you enter the adjustment, you may either:
· Enter a lot number that already exists on the Lot Control File (IC150M).
· Enter the lot number of a lot that does not yet exist on the Lot Control File. MAC-PAC will create a lot automatically with the specified number.
· Allow a lot to be assigned automatically through automatic lot number assignment. Automatic lot number assignment is defined on Reference File category Y34, Lot System Defaults.
The Manufacturing Order Receipt/Component Issues Conversation (IC130E)
The Manufacturing Order Receipt/Component Issues conversation (IC130E) allows you to create a lot automatically when you receive a manufacturing order. When you enter a manufacturing order receipt, you may either:
· Enter a lot number that already exists on the Lot Control File (IC150M).
· Enter the lot number of a lot that does not yet exist on the Lot Control File. If the lot number you enter does not already exist, MAC-PAC will create a lot with the specified number.
· Allow a lot to be assigned automatically through automatic lot number assignment. Automatic lot number assignment is defined on Reference File category Y34, Lot System Defaults.
Lot Creation in Other Modules
You may also create lots through the Purchasing and Just-in-Time modules.
· In Receipt Quantity Control (PO220E) and in Multi-Line Receipt Maintenance (PO270E), lots are created through purchase order receipts.
· The Just-in-Time module allows you to create lots through the Flow Receipts conversation (JT120E).
Refer to the user manuals for these modules for more detailed information.
