Procedures Necessary to Implement Cycle Counting
The following procedures must be followed up to implement cycle counting.
1. Decide which warehouses should have cycle counts.
2. Use the Plant/Warehouse Description Maintenance option within Design Engineering to define how cycle counting will be done at each warehouse.
3. Assign ABC classifications to the parts.
a. Use the ABC Classification Maintenance conversation on the Inventory Control - Inventory Analysis Menu to request that MAC-PAC classify inventory for you.
b. Use the Warehouse Balance File Maintenance - Change Cycle Count screen to modify the inventory classification. This screen is accessed from the Inventory Analysis Menu.
4. Schedule the cycle count, using the Cycle Count Schedule Request option on the Inventory Analysis Menu.
5. Conduct the cycle count. Write the physical counts directly on the Cycle Count Report.
6. Enter cycle count adjustments to reconcile differences between the counted quantity and the system balance. Use the Cycle Count Adjustment conversation on the Inventory Analysis Menu.
7. Monitor performance. Request the Cycle Count Performance Report from the Cycle Count Performance Request conversation on the Inventory Analysis Menu.
8. Update ABC classifications, as necessary.
