This screen allows you to replace one component with another in every product structure where it appears.  The Quantity Per can be changed to reflect the quantity of the new component required to make each parent part.  Note that only non-build-thru parts should be allowed to have a Quantity Per equal to zero in this conversation.  This screen can also be used to change the Quantity Per relationship without replacing the component.

This program will also allow you to perform a mass delete of component where-used records by simply entering '*DELETE', left-justified, in the Component Part to be Introduced field.  This will submit physical delete transactions for Product Structure Maintenance (Batch/Off-Line Mode) to process.

In addition, you can change the effectivity out date of a component in every product structure where it is used.  Simply type '*NONE', left-justified, in the Component Part to be Introduced field.  This will submit change transactions to be processed by the Product Structure Maintenance program (Batch/Off-Line Mode).  No component will be added to replace the out-going part.

o  If you leave the Eng Effectivity Date-In and Eng Change Order-In fields blank, the Effectivity Date Out is set to yesterday's date.

o  If you specify an effectivity date, the Effectivity Date-Out is set to the day before this date.

o  If you specify an engineering change order, the Effectivity Date-Out is set to the day before the date that is associated with that engineering change order.

However, future effectivity-in dates will not be changed (that is, they will still come into effect as before unless you change them individually).  This approach should be used when you want to keep track of parts that are no longer active components, but should remain on the bill of material for reference.

A transaction entered on this screen can generate many product structure update transactions.  These transactions will be associated with whatever user ID appears on the top left of the screen.

o  To review the transactions resulting from a mass change, select Review Transactions from the application menu.  Note that this selection displays all transactions for one user ID (not just those created by the mass change).

o  To process the transactions generated by a mass change, run the off-line product structure maintenance job from the DE Processing Menu.

PLANT

Required.  Used to identify the plant where the workcenters exist.  The plant must be valid (not blanks or nines) and the user must be authorized to the manufacturing company/warehouse associated with the plant (Reference File Category 409).  Defaults to the plant are assigned to the user ID, but may be changed by pressing F17.

COMPONENT PART TO BE REPLACED - PART NUMBER

Required.  Enter the part number of the component to be replaced.  To change a Quantity Per relationship without replacing the component, enter the component's part number here.  The part must exist on the Part Master File and be a valid component on at least one product structure on the Product Structure File.

COMPONENT PART TO BE INTRODUCED - PART NUMBER

Required.  Enter the part number of the component that will replace the original component.

o  To change the Quantity Per relationship without replacing the component, enter the same part as in the Component Part To Be Replaced field.

o  To delete the component from all product structures where it is used, enter '*DELETE'.

o  To change the effectivity-out date for the component on every product structure where it appears, enter '*NONE'.  The current effectivity out dates will be replaced with the date you enter in the effectivity date field, the date associated with the engineering change order you specify, or yesterday's date (if the Eng Change Order-In and Effectivity Date-In fields are both blank).

Note:  If either part has an off-line maintenance transaction pending (either as a parent or as a component), a critical error occurs and the transaction is not allowed.  Also, none of the following fields need be entered if mass-delete where-used (*DELETE) or mass-change of out-effectivity dates (*NONE) are requested.

QUANTITY CONVERSION

Optional.  Used to calculate the new component quantity required to manufacture one parent part (Quantity Per).  If entered, the value in this field is multiplied by the existing Quantity Per to give the new Quantity Per.  If no value is entered, the original Quantity Per will be used for the new component.

Maximum of 7 decimal places and 7 significant digits.  Note that zero may only be entered for non-build-thru parts.

The new Quantity Per will be rounded to either the number of decimal places specified by the Decimal Control Code or the number of decimal places in the Quantity Conversion, whichever is greater.

ENGINEERING CHANGE ORDER - IN

o  Required if Reference File category C12 = 1

o  Optional if category C12 = 3

o  Must be blank if category C12 = 3 and an effectivity date is entered.  If category C12 = 2 but no date is entered, the field is optional.

This field is used to specify the engineering change order associated with the mass change.  If the Eng Effectivity Date - In field and this field are both blank, then the existing product structure will be deleted and the new record will assume the original effectivity dates; no record of the revision will be maintained.

ENGINEERING EFFECTIVITY DATE - IN

o  Display only if Reference File category C12 = 1.

o  Optional if category C12 = 3.  If an engineering change order was entered, the date is defaulted from the Engineering Change Order File.

o  Must be blank if category C12 = 2 and an engineering change order is entered.  If category C12 = 2 but no change order is entered, the field is optional.

This field is used to determine when the old component will go out of effect and when the new component will come into effect.  If the ENG CHANGE ORDER - IN field and this field are both blank, then the original product structure record will be deleted and the new record will assume the original effectivity dates; no record of the revision will be maintained.

RETAIN REFERENCE CODE

Required.  Valid values are either 'Y' or 'N'.  This field is used to determine if you are replacing a reference part with a non-reference part.  A value of 'Y' means that you want to leave the new non-reference part as a "referenced" component in all BOMs where it is to be replaced.  A value of 'N' means that you want to use the new component in the BOMs based on its part type.

COMMAND KEYS

Enter - Process the mass change transaction.

F2    - Display a window where a fast path option or mnemonic can be entered.  Fast path allows the next menu selection to be made directly from this screen.  When the window is displayed, pressing F3 will remove it.

F3    - Display the DE Application Menu without processing the mass change.

F4    - Display a list of values for the field where the cursor is positioned.  If you select one of the items from the list, it will be returned to the application screen.

F9    - Enter the Product Structure Maintenance conversation.

F15   - Clear the most recently entered field values so they can be reentered.

F17   - Used to change the plant in which the user is currently working.
