This screen is used to define and modify detailed cost elements, cost rollover and update selection flags, average order quantity, and labor and overhead costs.
Both the modules you have installed and the way your part is set up affect the fields that are displayed on this screen.
The cost detailed fields are displayed if:
o Product Costing is not installed
o The part is costed as a purchased part (this is valid for part types: purchased, raw material, transfer, or non-stocked)
o The part is manufactured but the cost bill of material flag is No
If you have the Product Costing module, you will not be able to maintain detailed cost elements for manufactured parts that are costed based on the bill of material or build-thru parts. The detailed elements for these parts are generated automatically during the product cost generation (rollup).
If you have the Product Costing module, but not the Manufacturing Engineering module, or if the cost routing flag is No, you will be able to maintain the labor and burden costs incurred at this level of the bill for manufactured parts. Otherwise, labor and overhead costs will be calculated based on the part's routing.
PLANT
Display only. The plant specified on the function select screen. Cost information applies only to the part within this plant.
BASE CURRENCY
Display only. Base currency associated with company/location which is assigned to the manufacturing company/warehouse in this plant appears in the upper right corner of the screen, to the left of the date field. Type an 'X' and press F11 for extended help text.
PART NUMBER
Display only. The item for which cost information is defined. It was entered on the select screen.
COST ROLLOVER CODE
Required. Allows you to 'roll' current costs into standard costs for selected parts only. The standard cost rollover process is requested in the Product Costing module, and may be performed for all parts or for selected parts only. Valid values are:
Y - The standard costs for the part will be updated with current costs if a selective standard cost rollover is performed.
N - Standard costs for the part will not be affected by a selective standard cost rollover.
STANDARD COST ROLLUP
Required. Allows you to re-generate standard costs for selected parts only. Valid values are:
Y - Standard costs will be recalculated if a selective standard cost generation is performed.
N - Standard costs will not be recalculated if a selective standard cost generation is performed.
SIMULATED ROLLOVER CODE
Required. Allows you to 'roll' simulated costs into current or standard cost for selected parts only. The cost rollover process is requested in the Product Costing module, and may be performed for all parts or for selected parts only. Valid values are:
Y - The simulated costs for the part will be rolled into either the current or standard cost values when a selective simulated cost rollover is performed.
N - Costs for the part will not be modified by a selective simulated cost rollover.
AVERAGE ORDER QUANTITY
Required. This field represents the typical quantity made when an item is manufactured. Product Costing uses the Average Order Quantity and the Batch Quantity to calculate the Number of Batches for a fixed time operations with a batch sensitivity equal to yes.
Number of Batches = (Qty Required - (Sensitivity Factor - Batch Quantity))/Batch Quantity
The Number of Batches is then used to calculate labor and overhead costs.
If the batch sensitivity is equal to no, the product costing labor and machine hours are divided by the average order quantity to develop unit labor and overhead costs for a fixed-time operation.
CURRENT LABOR - THIS LEVEL
Optional. The labor cost currently required to make this level of the product (excluding labor incurred in manufacturing the item's components). This value will not be used to value inventory. It can be used to track fluctuations in cost. If Product Costing is installed, you can roll this value into the standard cost field. Entering a Y in the Curr Rollover Code field will allow you to rollover the current cost to the standard cost during a selective cost rollover.
This field is displayed only if:
o Manufacturing Engineering is not installed.
o The part is manufactured but the routing is not used to generate costs (cost routing flag = No). In these situations, MAC-PAC cannot calculate labor costs automatically.
CURRENT OVERHEAD - THIS LEVEL
Optional. The overhead currently required to make this level of the product (excluding overhead incurred in manufacturing the product's components). This value will not be used to value inventory; it can be used to track fluctuations in cost. If Product Costing is installed, you can roll this value into the standard cost field. Entering a Y in the Curr Rollover Code field on this screen will allow you to roll over the current cost to the standard cost during a selective cost rollover.
This field is displayed only if:
o Manufacturing Engineering is not installed.
o The part is manufactured but the routing is not used to generate costs (cost routing flag=No). In these situations, MAC-PAC cannot calculate labor costs automatically.
STANDARD LABOR COST - THIS LEVEL
Optional. The standard labor required to make this level of the product (excluding labor incurred in manufacturing the product's components). The value in this field will be used to value inventory for the part.
This field is displayed only if:
o Manufacturing Engineering is not installed.
o The part is manufactured but the routing is not used to generate costs (cost routing flag=No). In these situations, MAC-PAC cannot calculate labor costs automatically.
STANDARD OVERHEAD COST - THIS LEVEL
Optional. The standard overhead required to make this level of the product (excluding overhead incurred in manufacturing the product's components). The value in this field will be used to value inventory.
This field is displayed only if:
o Manufacturing Engineering is not installed.
o The part is manufactured but the routing is not used to generate costs (cost routing flag=No). In these situations, MAC-PAC cannot calculate labor costs automatically.
COST CODE
Required if displayed. The cost element associated with the cost. Cost elements provide detailed breakdowns in the total cost of a part. Cost elements are defined on Reference File Category C17.
DESCRIPTION
Display only. The description associated with the cost element.
CURRENT COST
Optional. The current cost per unit for the cost element. This value does not affect how inventory is valued. It can be used to track fluctuations in cost. If Product Costing is installed, you can roll this value into the standard cost field. Entering a Y in the Curr Rollover Code field will allow you to rollover the current cost to the standard cost during a selective cost rollover.
STANDARD COST
Optional. The standard cost per unit for the cost element. The value in this field is used to value inventory for the part.
ACQUISITION FLAG
Required. Indicates whether the cost is paid to the vendor (if the part is typically purchased) or to another warehouse (if the part is typically transferred to this warehouse from another). The sum of all Acquisition Costs will be included in the calculation of Purchase Price Variance and Transfer Price Variance. Non-acquisition costs should represent add-on charges such as freight, duty, and inspection and handling costs. These figures will not be included in the calculation of variances. This field may only be changed if the current, standard, simulated, and accounting cost fields are zero for the cost type element for this part and plant. Once the current, standard, and simulated costs are zero, you must run the accounting cost generation to zero out the accounting cost for this part/plant/cost element record.
COST TYPE
Required. Indicates whether the cost should be rolled up into the material, labor or overhead bucket. Cost elements will be rolled up into separate cost element buckets in addition to the material, labor and overhead totals. Cost elements may optionally be rolled into summary buckets, as defined on Reference File Category C17.
COMMAND KEYS
Enter - Process request.
F2 - Display a window where a fast path option or mnemonic can be entered. Fast path allows the next menu selection to be made directly from this screen. When the window is displayed, pressing F3 will remove it.
F3 - Exit program and return to menu.
F4 - Display a list of values for the field where the cursor is positioned. If you select one of the items from the list, it will be returned to the application screen.
