This screen is used to copy parts. You may copy a part within a plant, or you may copy a part, a range of parts, or all parts across plants.
In a pure distribution environment (plant = *blanks), both the from and to plants must be blank. The default plant field on the User Assignment record (Reference File category 428) must also be blank, since that value is defaulted in when the user blanks out the plant fields.
FROM PLANT
Required. Used to identify the plant from which a part or parts will be copied. The plant must be valid, and you must be authorized to the manufacturing company/warehouse associated with the plant (Reference File category 409).
TO PLANT
Optional for copy within plant. Required for copy across plants. Used to identify the plant to which a part or parts will be copied. The plant must be valid, and you must be authorized to the manufacturing company/warehouse associated with the plant (Reference File category 409). For copy within a plant, the To Plant must equal the From Plant. For copy across plants, the To Plant must not equal the From Plant.
FROM PART NUMBER
Required. For copy within a plant, the part number must exist on the Part Master File. For copy across plants, this field can have one of three values: 'ALL' for copy all parts, a valid part number for copy one part, or a lower limit for copy a range of parts.
If you are copying a part that is potency controlled, the potency-controlled flag, which is located on the Part Master Maintenance Change (Control) screen DE100S04, will default to N (no), and the standard potency (which is located on the same screen) will default to 100 percent.
Note: If you copy a configured part across plants, certain fields will be blanked out for the new part in the To Plant if that part number does not exist in the To Plant. The fields affected are Standard Routing Default Part, Standard BOM Default Part, and Rule Based Routing Part. When this occurs, a warning message will be shown for each part copied.
TO PART NUMBER
Required for copy within a plant. Optional for copy across plants. For copy within a plant, a new part number (one which does not presently exist on the Part Master File) must be entered. For copy across plants, this field must have one of three values: blank for copy all parts, blank for copy one part, or an upper limit for copy a range of parts.
PART DESCRIPTION
Optional. Enter a description here for the To Part Number. If you leave this field blank, the description from the From Part Number will be copied.
DESCRIPTION LINE 2
Optional. Enter a description here for the To Part Number to have in its Part Description Line 2 field. Note this field can be found on the Part Master Maintenance Change Description Screen (DE100S03). If you leave this field blank, the Description Line 2 from the From Part Number will be copied.
MAINTENANCE CODE
Required. Used to identify whether the part copy will be performed within a plant or across plants.
