This screen displays the current comment lines for a part. On this screen, you can:
o Add new lines (up to 99 lines are allowed per part).
o Change a line.
o Delete a line.
o Rearrange the lines.
o Copy comments from another part. The comments will be copied after the current comments for this part.
PLANT
Display only. The plant in which the maintenance will be performed. The plant must be valid, and you must be authorized to the manufacturing company/warehouse associated with the plant (Reference File category 409).
PART NUMBER
Display only. The part whose comments are displayed. You cannot change this field.
COPY: FROM PART NUMBER
Required when copying. The part whose comments you want to copy. The part must exist on the Part Master File. The comments will be copied behind the current comments for this part.
COPY: FROM PLANT
Required when copying. Used to identify the plant for which the information will be copied from. The plant must be valid, and you must be authorized to the manufacturing company/warehouse associated with the plant (Reference File Category 409). Defaults to the plant assigned to your user ID.
RENUMBER BY
Optional. The increment to be used when new sequence numbers are assigned. For example, if RENUMBER BY = 5, the new sequence numbers will be 5, 10, 15, ..., when F18=Renumber is pressed. If this field is blank, lines are renumbered by 10.
TEXT
Optional. Comments describing the part. Each text line can contain up to 57 characters.
COMMENT GROUP CODE
Optional. This generic field allows you to establish groups of related comments. Assign a one character code to each comment you want included in a group. This code needs to be previously defined in Category D31. When you access the Part Comments Inquiry, you can enter the comment group code to display only those comments belonging to a group. You can assign comments to groups regardless of their sequence numbers.
REF1
Optional. This field can contain any combination of characters--no validation is performed. The field can be used to enter values relating to a comment. It can also be used as a sorting criteria for user-defined reports.
REF2
Optional. Serves same purpose as REF1.
SEQUENCE
Required. Number indicating the order in which comment lines should be displayed and printed. Initially, the system displays sequence numbers in intervals of 10. To rearrange lines, type over the current numbers.
DELETE
Optional. Enter a D in this field to delete the corresponding comment line.
COMMAND KEYS
Enter - Update the comments for changes.
F2 - Display a window where a fast path option or mnemonic can be entered. Fast path allows the next menu selection to be made directly from this screen. When the window is displayed, pressing F3 will remove it.
F3 - Return to the Design Engineering Application Menu without updating the comments.
F4 - Display a list of values for the field where the cursor is positioned. If you select one of the items from the list, it will be returned to the application screen.
F5 - Display first page of comments.
F6 - Display last page of comments.
F8 - Copy comments of part in From Part No field or search for parts whose number or description contains the characters in the Search field.
F10 - Exit to the Function Select screen without updating the current changes.
F13 - Lock the CG, Ref1, Ref2, Sqnce, and D fields in each line so data cannot be typed into them. If the fields are already protected, pressing F13 unprotects them.
F18 - Assign new sequence numbers according to the Renumber By field.
F19 - Record changes on the Part Comment File and return to the Function Select screen.
F24 - Display additional command keys available from this screen.
