Setting Up Backflushing
After defining a part in the Part Master Maintenance conversation, you can define a product structure for the part, thus making it a parent part made up of several component parts. These component parts can be one of many part types. Some of these components may be defined as build-thru parts. A build-thru part is one that is manufactured but not stocked and, once produced, is used immediately in the production of another product. In this section, the build-thru component part serves as the discussion example, but it is not the only part type affected by backflushing. Backflushing
When finished goods are received into stock, MAC-PAC can "backflush" the inventory required to produce those items. Backflushing refers to the automatic updating of component inventory balances by the system. Backflushing is also known as simultaneous issue and receipt processing.
