Maintain Related Items for a Part
Maintain Related Items for a Part
Related items are used as complement or substitute items for a given part. They are defined on the Related Items File, which is maintained through the Related Items Maintenance option on the Design Engineering menu.
Procedures
1. Define each related item:
a. Select the Related Item Maintenance menu option.
b. On the partial screen, type the plant and a part number to be added. The plant must exist on the Warehouse Description Logical File. The part number must exist on the Part Master File.
c. Press Enter to display the detail screen. This screen includes the related item, the related item description, and a code, indicating the relationship type. The relationship types are defined on Reference File category G91. These include two pre-defined types — complementary and substitute. If records already exist for the part number, they will be displayed on the screen and only the relationship type can be changed. You can add additional records by entering a part number in the Related Item field and a relationship type in the Type field. To delete a record, enter a 'D' in the Selection field next to the corresponding record. This record will be deleted from the Related Items File.
2. Verify that the related items were defined correctly by using the Related Items Inquiry option.
a. On the partial screen, type the plant and a part number to be added. The plant must exist on Warehouse Description Logical File. The part number must exist on the Part Master File.
b. Press Enter to display the detail screen. All fields on this screen are display only. You have the option to display all of the related items for a part (F11) or to display all of the parts to which an item is related (F7).
3. Correct any errors by repeating step 1.
Continuation Steps in other Modules
1. After creating related items for a part, you will be able to display them in a pop-up window when invoked from Sales Order or Quote Order Maintenance in the Order Processing module.
a. Enter an action code on the Order Multi-line screen (OP100S03) to display either the Related Items window (DE250W01) or the Relationship Type window (DE250W02).
· Three action codes will be used to invoke the windows, one for each of the supplied relationship types and one for all of the related items. These action codes must exist on Reference File category 032. If the action code is equal to 'CI', then the complementary items for the part specified will be displayed. If the action code is equal to 'SI', then the substitute items for the part specified will be displayed. If the action code is equal to 'RI', then the list of relationship types, defined on Reference File category G91, will be displayed. You may then select the relationship type of your choice.
The appropriate Related Items window will then be displayed. This window will display the list of related items, the related item descriptions, as well as the available quantity for each item and the base price.
b. Press F3=Exit to re-display the Order Multi-line screen or press Enter. A next action code will be maintainable on the Related Items window to allow you to display another window without returning to the Order Multi-line screen first.
